I take the part of the “lab rat” in my success coaching to find things that work
I offer ideas and techniques in my success coaching programs that work in my own life. And the placebo effect is definitely something that I have always been fascinated by. I became very good at creating the placebo effect for my own health. The way I discovered how to make it work came about because I would find a bit of information that supported the idea that some “thing” would support my immune system and help me stay well.
And then I used it and made a big deal out of it, telling myself that eating chicken soup was all I needed to do to reinforce my immune system and keep from getting the cold I felt coming on. Or, this zinc lozenge is all I need to strengthen my immune system right now. And of course, I would T-F-S it because that is a way of life. I put supporting material in my T-thoughts, F-feelings, S-sight. If I couldn’t create the idea that I was healthy or getting back to being healthy because of doing the “thing” that I was telling myself would work, then I worked on the area that wasn’t cooperating.
And that is my success coaching process I live by.

What does the placebo effect have to do with success coaching?
It occurred to me one day that it is really the placebo effect that is working in the mind when that magical shift happens and your vision becomes your reality. You have to pretend something is true and cause your mind to believe something when there is no real evidence of it at the time. With a fake pill, the mind believes in a substance that isn’t real and the body heals and change occurs because of it. When you use a fake idea, or create a vision of something that isn’t real (yet), the mind believes what it sees, like that you got the new job when nothing has actually happened in the physical world. Yet so often, the change happens.
I use this technique in my success coaching because it consistently works for me in my own life. I create an intention, make it very real in my mind so that all of my senses come alive, and then I keep my energy focused on it until I see that it has actually become real in the physical sense.
Amazing to think life works that way but it does. My life experiences have made that evident to me. I believe it, which is what makes it work. Funny, strange, magical.
